Tooth pain can be excruciating and can interfere with every other aspect of your life. Sleeping, working, or concentrating on everyday tasks can seem impossible when dental problems are causing you constant pain.
At James Warren Dental, our experienced staff specialize in providing the best solutions to our patients and can often provide you with an appointment the same day you call. If you require an emergency extraction, there's a great chance Dr. Warren will be able to perform it that very same day at our Millbrae dental office!
If you or a loved one ever suffers a knocked-out tooth, we will immediately take care of it. That said, you must act quickly to save your tooth and preserve your future oral health!
According to the American Association Of Endodontists (AAE), when you've had a tooth knocked out, do the following:
- Carefully pick up your tooth by the crown, not by the root.
- If your tooth is dirty, rinse it gently with water (no soap or scrubbing!)
- Gently push the tooth back into its socket if possible, holding the tooth in place with your finger or by carefully closing your mouth.
- Keep your tooth from drying out. If you can't replace your tooth in its socket, place it in your mouth between your teeth and the inside of your cheek to keep it moist.
- See an emergency dentist within 30 minutes of having your tooth knocked out.
Teeth can break or chip for a variety of reasons, but treating a broken tooth at home is simply not a viable option. If yours breaks, do your best to preserve the missing part of the tooth, and call us right away for a same-day dental appointment!
Broken Dental Fillings & Crowns
Did you know that dental restorations come with a specific lifespan? If your restoration breaks or falls off, it's important to seek urgent dental care right away to keep your mouth safe from possible infection. Many teeth can start out with a small break that would only need a filling, but the longer treatment is delayed, the bigger the problem becomes.
A dental abscess is an infection in your teeth or gums. Badly infected teeth can jeopardize the health of your entire mouth and your overall wellness. If treated immediately, these infections are easy to recover from and can be prevented from causing lasting damage to your mouth. After treatment, Dr. Warren will likely prescribe an antibiotic to treat your dental abscess and prevent future complications.
Are you experiencing tooth pain? Does it hurt to chew or when air touches your tooth?
If you are suffering from a persistent toothache, call us to schedule an exam. During your appointment, Dr. Warren will likely x-ray your tooth to help determine if a cavity, crack, abscess, or other problem is causing your pain before discussing your dental treatment options with you.
